The tubular vessels of the body’s circulatory system (circulation of blood throughout the body) that carry deoxygenated blood (low in oxygen) to the heart, for the most part. The only exception to this is that the pulmonary vein carries oxygenated blood (oxygen-rich) from the lungs to the heart so that it can be oxygenated. So, remember that veins always carry blood to the heart.
